When more than 400 people turned out to hear The Harleys in Central Park on Sunday, the band invited audience members to donate to the Seguin Activity Center skate park as a memorial to Michael Raetzsch. An avid skateboarder, Michael died recently in an accident. And donate they did, digging deep to contribute $1,355.
Presenting the donations are band members Mike McGrew, left, and John Masterson, right, to Dana Malaer, center, director of the Seguin Activity Center. In the background, construction of the skate park is ongoing with all new ramps and features.
“Once again this community has shown its generous spirit” said John Masterson, The Harleys’ lead guitar player. “Seguin is such a special place.”
Dana Malaer expressed appreciation on behalf of her organization and the young people who will benefit from the refurbished skate park. “We’re very grateful to The Harleys and to all our Seguin neighbors who contributed to this cause. I know that Michael would be pleased and proud to know that so many contributed to help out.”
To make a donation, make checks payable to Seguin Activity Center and note Michael Raetzsch or skate park in the memo line. Send to SAC, 624 Zorn St. Seguin TX 78155.
